Free entry to archaeological sites and museums today

On March 6, 1994, Melina Mercouri passed away. Every year, this day is commemorated as “Melina Mercouri Remembrance Day.” As part of this anniversary, admission to museums and archaeological sites managed by the Greek state, including the Acropolis Museum, is free.
It is noted that entrance to state-owned archaeological sites managed by the Ministry of Culture is free—without any admission fee—on the following dates:
- March 6 (Melina Mercouri Remembrance Day)
- April 18 (International Day for Monuments and Sites)
- May 18 (International Museum Day)
- The last weekend of September (European Heritage Days)
- October 28 (National Holiday)
- The first Sunday of each month from November 1 to March 31
- Acropolis Museum
The official free admission days for the Acropolis Museum are as follows:
Full-day free admission:
- March 6 (Melina Mercouri Remembrance Day)
- March 25
- May 18 (International Museum Day)
- October 28
Partial free admission:
- European Heritage Days (last weekend of September each year), subject to approval by the Museum’s Board of Directors.
