On Holy Saturday morning, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the First Resurrection service at the Church of Evangelistria in Tinos. During the service, the Metropolitan of Syros, Dorotheos, delivered a poignant sermon, emphasizing the weight of leadership borne by the Prime Minister.
“You carry on your shoulders the responsibilities of the entire nation,” the Metropolitan told Mitsotakis, acknowledging the personal and spiritual significance of his visit. “Like all of us, you came here for personal prayer, to draw strength and continue. While we each bear family or professional burdens, you need the Virgin Mary’s strength to shoulder the nation’s challenges.”
Mitsotakis, accompanied by his wife, Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotaki, also attended the Epitaphios service and procession at the same church on Good Friday (18 April). The couple arrived in Tinos on Holy Thursday (17 April) to spend the Easter holidays with family in the Cycladic island’s serene setting.
The Prime Minister’s official engagements are set to resume on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
