“To date, data show a 17% reduction in migration flows compared to 2024. But I must say that there is a 134% increase in arrivals from the Libyan Sea to the islands of Gavdos, Crete, Kassos, Rhodes, etc., due to the destabilisation in Sudan and the civil war in Libya and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, 1/3 of the flows are now south, in an open, deep sea,” said the Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias in an interview with Open TV on Sunday.
“Regarding the restraint of prices on ferry tickets, which was achieved after the government intervention to reduce port fees by 50%, the minister stated that after the agreement with Emanuele Grimaldi, the final piece of the puzzle was in place. He emphasised, ‘As far as fast ferries are concerned, I believe that in the coming days, ship owners and companies will make announcements regarding price reductions and financial discount packages for Greek families, in order to support the middle class and the many.
