Syntagma metro station to close for anti-war demonstrations today Monday evening

Greek police said the Syntagma metro station in central Athens will be closed on Monday afternoon, as leftist groups and unions are expected to demonstrate against the United States’ attacks against Iran and Israel’s war in Gaza.Protesters are expected to march towards the US embassy, located on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
The protest was called by PAME, a union affiliated with the Greek Communist Party (KKE), but several other organizations and parties have welcomed at the initiative and are excepted to join the protest. Metro operator STASY said the Syntagma metro station will close at 6 p.m. and trains will pass through without stopping.
In addition to Athens, protests were announced in Thessaloniki, Patras, Larissa, Iraklio, Rethymno, Ioannina, Chania, Kalamata, Agrinio, Corfu and other cities. It was not clear if all the protests will be held today.
