METLEN further expands its renewable footprint in Italy with two new PV plants connected to the high-voltage grid and now operational. The Carcarello and Tarquinia solar plants in Lazio mark a major milestone for METLEN, reinforcing our commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure. The implementation of the two photovoltaic (PV) plants involved the construction of the first MV/HV infrastructure in the region, with both plants now seamlessly integrated into the national 150 kV high-voltage grid via a shared substation.
With a combined capacity of 51 MWp, the two plants will generate 89 GWh of renewable energy annually, meeting the needs of 24,700 households. This success is a testament to the tireless collaboration between our Italian and Greek teams, whose expertise and dedication are propelling METLEN forward in the global energy transition.
Italy plays a key role in METLEN’s European strategy due to its strong renewable energy potential, favorable regulatory framework, and well-established energy infrastructure. With an extensive portfolio of over 180 renewable energy projects totaling 3.7 GW across 15 regions, METLEN continues to invest in innovative energy solutions that drive the transition to a more sustainable future. The company remains committed to supporting its partners in delivering high-impact projects across Italy, with an active development pipeline of 3.59 GW set for implementation over the next four years.
